Thanks.

Glad to hear to are happy with that set up.

Yeah the recessed rounds would not have sounded right because the support beam is in the way and I wanted project the speakers directly at the viewers ears.

Yep.

Plus, with those wood floors, the sound would be bouncing around the pool table.

Movie-watchers would wonder why there wasn't any surround sound.

i have a nice new denon receiver, but still running moderate all-in-one pioneer speakers. eventual upgrade, but nice speakers are lots of coin.

rider, you built your wall around all of your current theater components? rather permanent solution for not-so-permanent items, no ?

Yeah I did, if the TV goes I'll fill the hole with drywall and mount an LCD TV. The front and center speakers are actually mounted from the rear of the wall on a shelf. Just the grills are mounted to the outside so the speakers can be replaced without having to change anything.

It's Seattle in case you didn't recognize it. With the old Kingdome on the right with Mt Rainier and a Boeing airplane. My wife's grandfather bought that from some guy who makes those as a hobby about 25 years ago.

you do know you don't mount LCDs on drywall, you mount em to studs, right?

Yes and there are studs behind the metal sculpture on 16" centers. I would extend those studs to the floor before I mounted the drywall. I do know what I'm doing, I finished that basement myself.
