I don't have a problem saying that GPS does help and is an aid in navigation. Hell I work on GPS systems on a daily basis, but come on people, am I the only person alive that still uses paper maps? You drove up a horse trail in an expensive ass BMW and didn't even contemplate that something wasn't right? And then this dude doesn't apologize for being a complete retard and causing a lot of people extra work.

Cool, at least I'm not the only one. I've got an atlas in my glove box and a mini whiskey compass on my windshield in kanji.

I have never even used a GPS in my life. That is what google maps is for.

We have been using GPS receivers after moving here and they've been of great help. When you are learning your way around a new area and the surrounding cities/states, it's a great tool. Very useful when you need to make an unplanned drive to somewhere unfamiliar.

Holy crap what a difference it makes when touring! I actually found the flight 93 memorial thanks to that thing. After I sold the KS (with the GPS) I was lost (pardon the pun) and intended to buy another Garmin, but mom ended up getting me a tomtom for Christmas 07 and so I mounted that in the car....then I got the RT with one mounted already on it. It's really a great tool, but like with any tool, you have to assume it can't do everything, and I print overall maps from googlemaps when I take a trip JUST IN CASE. But they're life savers when there's a traffic jam and you need to avoid the next 5 miles of hiway

my folks got me a HD ride atlas a few years back which is perfect. Saddlebag sized, good details and has the state to state particulars of motorcycle law. Were i to resort to google maps i'll snap a picture of it on my cellphone. Hate printouts

Yeh I use one of those once in a while too, but I also have a GPS for my bike, and I can sorta sypathize with how the guy got in his predicament. I have in the past just set it to most direct route, and it will take me on small ass dirt roads, but I'm also looking for that kind of stuff. Anyway the guy effed up and he is a dumbass

Some people are just stupid. I have done fine without GPS and without maps at times but I would like to have a GPS to help out every now and then. James
