Default Student loans and scholorships?

Just got back home from applying to the local college. I'm finally ready to go back to school!

Going to an accelerated bachelors for nursing. Its a 1 year nursing program, which i am hoping to get into Aug 2010. This year starting summer, i'll be going back to school year round to take my sciences and prenursing courses since i don't have that from my other degree. I have to take about 34 credits.

I haven't before but i have to apply for scholorships and student loans since i am have to pay for school and living expenses. From what the financial advisor told me, i'll be applying for stafford loans and i can apply for a scholorship at the college but i heard that there are a lot out there, that they give you money for being a minority, female, etc. So where can i find these scholorships? And what if the stafford loans are not enough?

Help!

your local library will probably have a list of scholarships and application processes.

(at least, they did when I went to college)

How expensive is your school? I go to a technical college for Radiology Tech and I pay roughly $400 a semester for 2 classes with 4 semesters a year. I pay out of pocket. I'm not sure if there are any scholarships out there for straight, caucasian, males who don't play football and can't solve 24223516.2205 X .0002325^18 off the top of my head.

I just had to sacrifice some fun time but it'll feel great coming out with no debt.

I think its about $93 per credit. so 33 credits roughly or a bit more for this year and then about 10k for the year after that for the nursing program. I plan on going to school full time, i may work part time here and there but if i don't have to work that would be better as i would have more time to focus on studying.

Try fastweb. Its what I used when I was trying to find grants and scholarships for myself. It has a ton of questions to help find out what you're qualified for.

Wow, didn't know you were thinking about that. My sister is a nurse anesthetist, and she makes bank. Good luck!

Thats what they told me at the school too

Now for scholorships, do they just give you check that you can do whatever you want with, or does it get applied to you tuition?

Great idea! Thanks!

Ask the Financial Advisor. The college probably has a file of scholarship descriptions you can sort through and make copies of their applications. It's probably all online now....I must be getting old.

You could always hang out near drive-thru ATM's...
