Ouch

But Pudge used to do that when she'd play with the laser. She'd bite the floor and couch never really went after ppl when we'd put it on their legs.

Handle every stressful situation like a DOG: If you can't eat it or hump it, pi$$ on it & walk away.

Tails are done at an early age when their eyes are still closed, before the bone grows into the tail. They don't cut it, they clamp it and cut off the circulation, then eventually falls off. It's completely painless. Ears are just for show for the most part. They are less prone to ear infections with cropped ears, but that is a painful process and I don't believe in it. And since it's done at a much later date than the tails, the owner has a choice. Most dog breeders dock the tails at such an early age that the eventual owner has no choice if it's a breed standard to have the tails docked.

Reasons to dock the tail are to protect the dog from injury when working or herding.

its a medical thing on some breeds because they're prone to injuries and infection in the ears and tails. in some cases its jsut for show though.
