I hope not! Unless he gets the parts used, he could buy a SM for what it costs to convert one. Of course, I exaggerate but the Sms are going cheap! I saw a black one for under $3k the other day.

All I need is wheels to fit good tires and spacers really, I could probably find those used cheap. I wouldn't bother changing the suspension.

I have a dual sport with reworked forks and shock. There is some good adjustment to them. It's a little tall and the exxon valdez tank is too big to be a good motard, but it would be fun to play on with some street tires.

You'll need to. With the smaller wheels your geometry will be off. You need to drop the front about 1 inch and the back about 1 inch.
