Love it, gotta have it. A little disappointing spec-wise but not a deal killer for me. Straight-up Gingerbread and eventually Honeycomb... and it's Samsung and not HTC. As much as I love my Sexy Nexy, I'm on my 3rd one now for various reasons. I'm hoping quality is a little better with the Samsung versus the HTC.

HTC uses Samsung screens. They haven't gotten the new one yet, but I am sure the new hotness will get the new screen. Camera wise, I am more than happy with the HTC 8 Meg camera.

Oh I had issues myself but it wasn't an HTC issue as much as it was Google's... I've had zero problems with my Desire and it's basically the same phone minus some Google specific items.

Truth! The Desire was delayed waiting for Samsung screens until HTC/USC said screw it and went this direction. All testers report very little picture quality difference between the two. I'm happy enough with the 5meg camera on my phone as well after having an 8meg on my Samsung memoir whose processor left much to be desired...

lolnoob. Samsung phones are locked down and underpowered when you start doing things to them. My HTC looks almost exactly like my roommate's Galaxy S when playing the same content. His was a bitch to hook up with a nice rom, etc. Mine still scores 30% or more on quadrant and 3x faster on linpack. This is with us both using some of the better 2.2 roms available for each device. Not to mention the build quality..

Well, when I played with them side by side, the Epic's screen was much sharper than the EVO's. And as for the cameras, well there was absolutely no contest, lol.
As for speed or how fast the OS is, well I have no idea but then I don't care as much about that stuff Last edited by Homeslice; 12-09-2010 at 06:23 AM.. |

Camera doesnt make a difference for me, my wife has an SLR if I actually want a decent pic. Processor is the most important part of the phone, it decides how fast it is and how stable it is. I want my phone to work well, so this is the most important component in the phone for me. |

My (now old) HTC Incredible completely destroys the Galaxy S' of my two buddies on a daily performance basis. Aside from Quadrant scores and all that, the phone just functions better, it does all the stuff its supposed to generally without hiccup. Not so for the Galaxy apparently. One of them hates that phone so much that he honestly wants to go back to his iPhone 3G.

Yeah, most Galaxy S phones have a noticeable lag, even with 2.2 roms. On XDA there are people making various "lagfix" .zips to try to remedy this. My Desire takes better looking pics than my buddy's Captivate (AT&T Galaxy S), but his video looks better than mine. Both are 720p. Haven't used an Evo, but as long as I turn my brightness to torch mode like the Captivate already is on, the screen sharpness is almost identical... and since I'm not watching movies daily on the phone, almost is good enough. I'd rather have the performance and solid build.
