My guess is it was some government virus that the government created and got out of control. If I remember correctly the doctor said something about entering day 1xx of operation wildfire and 60days or so of whatever he called the outbreak or where it reached hte public. Of course we'll probably never figure that out until it jumps the shark about 8th season. Which it'll probably take 8 seasons to tie up all of the loose ends they left us with.
I'm too fucking excited for this show. I never watched zombie movies until I am Legend came out (zombie like i guess) and the Walking Dead. Looks freaky.

There was also the France thing and the whisper the doctor said into the sheriff. The family in birmingham and the blonde chick with maybe parents in Florida.
Also, did they really have to kill off the black chick? No one put much of a fuss over her staying.

I've always loved zombie/apocalypse movies and this show is awesome because its like a zombie movie that doesn't stop. The movies focus on a core group of characters getting out of one larger predicament with a few small struggles along the way so they didn't have time to allow for a lot of character development and left the spot light on the killing. This is why I love this show because we will see the further development of the people that haven't died yet. I just hope the writing doesn't get too out of hand but AMC has good thought out story lines normally like with "Breaking Bad". Also looking forward to see "Hell on Wheels" next month
