FS: '48 Harley in Islamorada, FL
A friend of mine is selling his Harley. It's a 1948 45ci Flathead, basically a civilian version of the WLA Army Harleys of WWII. Rigid, Three Speed, Jockey Shift, Kick-Start. The only concession to modernization is the front end, which is off a '65, which has a hydraulic disc brake and a more modern fork, rather than the girder front end that came standard on the original. It's a rider, absolutely NOT a trailer queen, he rides it very regularly.
I know this isn't *quite* his target audience, but I figured I'd toss it up here just in case. He's asking $12k firm. If I had the extra cash sitting aorund I would buy this bike in half a heartbeat. It's an absolute classic!

45ci = about 740cc's.
Oil, constant loss chain oiler, and vertically split primary. So yeah, it leaks. It's a 60 year old motorcycle in good running condition. I'd like to see a '04 R1 in 2064 in that nice of condition. In fact, find me any Japanese car or motorcycle from 1948 in anything close to that kind of shape. I don't like new Harleys any more than the next guy, but this thing is a classic. Back when Harleys were good bikes. Hell my grandfather learned to ride on an Army WLA in '42, which is effectively the identical motorcycle. Regardless of what you think of Harleys now, this is American heritage. Not to mention that the value is never going to go down.
