We were there together and spent 90% of the night together at the party. Since I don't advertise my "relationship status" on Facebook like a 12 year old girl, they would have no reason to think we weren't a couple. The party was being thrown by two different groups and if anyone had the presence of mind to ask anyone from the group who actually knows me they wouldn't have needed to contact me, in order to have the number passed on.

*EDIT* We were both talking to the guy who wanted to get his number to her, and the question never came up.

Is it possible he was hoping someone else in the group was friends with her and could get it to her behind your back?

Guy sounds like a fuckin douchebag and also sounds like you may need a new group of friends. Well except for the friend that was cool enough to tell you what the fuck was going on.

The person who contacted me was the other host of the party; the one I didn't know. She was the one who asked me to pass on the number, at the request of her friend who was the guy I didn't know, but had talked to at the party. I had never met either of them before this party. The person who contacted me specifically sent a friend request through Facebook to do this. As it was someone whose home I had been in I accepted, when normally I wouldn't have.

No less a douchebag for asking someone else to do the dirty work. More like a douche AND a coward

Invoking the "gentleman" cliche when nobody here knows the by name or appearance is pretty transparent.

What I gather: whether you were interested in the girl or not, things didn't work out. Now someone else is encroaching on your desired territory and you're getting bent about it.

Or not a couple as in, she has let it be known that you're just a friend? (and possibly told someone during the party while you weren't within earshot).
