I would have no problem being shooting them.
That's my only gripe. Fuck up government property all you want if you have a beef with them, and then deal with the consequences. They should leave private property alone.

These idiots are usually against corporations and commerce as well so they mess businesses up too.

I know those participating in the summit want to travel on their respective government's dime, but they know what the end result will be. Why not set up a video conference which denies these protesters a forum while saving money in the process?

Anarchists can't even get together on a definition of what Anarchism is. From the outside, looking in, it appears that most of the people protesting think that Anarchy is having the freedom for them to do whatever they want to, while someone else pays the bills and keeps things running.

For that reason I'm not surprised when they start smashing shit.

As to Tmall's comment, "Fuck up government property all you want if you have a beef with them...", who do you think owns that property? All of us own it, collectively. All of us, who pay taxes, paid for it. In other words no, don't fuck it up, or I'd like to see you cooling your heels in the clink for a few years.

I disagree. Standing up to the government is the responsibility of it's citizens. Just because you or I don't have the balls to risk jail time for it doesn't mean nobody else does.

You write letters, these people riot. People around the world are aware of their cause now. How many people are aware of yours?

As for "we all pay for it", yup we sure do. We also just spent a billion dollars for the security of a three day meeting. The billion dollars did what exactly? Seems like not a whole lot considering the damage that was done to the city. But, at least we contributed a few billion dollars to other problems around the world. We could have contributed another billion if the meeting never took place there to begin with.

Would I have rioted? Nope. Do I disagree? Nope. The only thing I don't like about it is the damage to private property.

OK, so if what they did has done so much to advance knowledge of their cause, what is it then?

In other words, you don't know.

*EDIT* Do you want me to tell you why you don't know? It's because they haven't said. At this point they're generic Anarchists and, as I stated previously, even Anarchists themselves can't agree on a definition or agenda. The "Black Bloc" tactic is one that is used by thugs everywhere. They could be Communists, Radical Socialists, or even Neo Nazis. Nothing is important to them, but the destruction. THEY HAVE NO MESSAGE.

I wasn't fool enough to go downtown on the weekend, but The Toronto Star had a team of photographers in the area of that violent protest yesterday.

I was wondering if you got caught up in any of that.

I avoided all media for the weekend just so I didn't have to hear about it. Glad it's over.
