The town I live in (then called Bramalea, which later amalgamated with Brampton) was a model community, that had the latest in 1970s technology installed. Hell, we even had street lights that no one had to flip a switch or set a timer for! CD players didn't hit the general market until I was in college. Then they cost around $500.00. I only knew one rich kid who had one. Doctors and lawyers had pagers. Not much of anyone else did. The gaming box that I got to play a few times, back then, had both Pong and a skeet shooting game. I didn't see a microwave oven until I was 13. That was around the time that we also got a colour TV.
