It was awesome to watch, and often humbling if you were gridded in front of him in an expert wave and he still came by you (don't ask how I know :er.

Lately I've been compiling my old CRRC/CMRA newsletters for a CMRA archive section that I am working on and ran across this article and thought it would be cool to share. It's from August 1991, and sort of tells the early story of Colin, how he came to road racing and who helped him in those early days of club racing. This article is very prophetic - Colin won 7 WERA championships at the GNFs later in 1991, and then won the AMA 250 title in 1992. From there, well, you know

It should be noted that Colin and Ronnie are still close friends today, and in the off season, Colin can sometimes be found bench racing at NWH. Also, the OTS sponsored Yamaha TZ-250 that Erich Klementich (who passed on a few years ago) provided to Colin for use in the CMRA 1991 and the AMA in 1992, can be found in the Barber Museum.

Here's the OTS TZ-250 today -
