I'm actually shocked. The Federal Government has come to the rescue of at least current owners, by grandfathering their weapons. They'll be banned from this point forward, but I'm glad to hear that previous legal owners won't be out thousands because of what seems to be a completely arbitrary decision on the part of our national police force.

The fact that the Canadian citizens don't voice a protest over this , seems to be and interesting illustration of the difference in our two countries culture.
5 years would seem pointless because (Papa correct me if I am wrong ) there is no legal method of selling those rifles. SO in essence the Government has announced "we are stealing your rifle in 5 years!"
