Wouldn't another perspective on the situation also be welcome? If a couple is trying to have a baby and they're dealing with issues of infertility (per your example), wouldn't a guy who's been through such things offer a different perspective? If they're trying to have a kid, there's two sides to it, both with unique challenges, especially in terms of infertility. Maybe the girl thinks he's shooting blanks and she casually throws out some symptom that another guy on the forum happens to recognize through personal experience, and he recommends a course of action, a medical procedure, or medication, that solves the problem because the original couple's doctor misdiagnosed it.
When you limit the available input by shutting out half the population, you miss out on points of view that differ from the selected group (general "you", not you in particular).
