I did but DEI makes really good products! It looks like it works; batt+, ground, trigger, output + & - so that it would also unload your headlight wiring and run your HIDs straight from your battery, for those that are concerned. What I don't know is what it's current ratings are and how long it will last in a constant flow situation. Those types of switches are usually used to open/close sunroofs/windows and fire up glow plugs on alarm/remote start systems.

DEI is def. good bang-for-the-buck stuff, but the problem with using that relay for HIDs is that it requires a trigger pulse, not a constant signal. Meaning you'd have to use a momentary button to manually turn them on - fine if that's what you want, but not automatic as headlights should be.
This one is the best, most compact solution I found - and solid-state transistor vs. mechanical coil (more expensive though): http://www.wolstentech.com/products/...delayrelay.php |

To my mind, the advantage of prolonging the bulb/ballast is more about reducing the possibility of being caught on a trip w/ a dead headlight (though I plan to retain the stock plug & stash a halogen bulb as backup) + the hassle of removing/returning/reinstalling.
Oh - and I gave in & ordered sets for both the GSXR & VFR after seeing that smokin' deal you posted & reading various positive reviews on them. I'll post install pics when ever I throw them in over the winter. Thanks for the heads-up! |

Agreed, and that's what I plan to do on the GSXR - but I still don't want to have to blind oncoming traffic if it goes out.
On the VFR, that's not an option since it runs dual H4 hi/lo (I'm also a little dubious of the light-pattern & durability of the actuated hi/lo shield - we'll see). |
