Not sure how the Minis are running, but don't be surprised if he doesn't beat you. In autocross, small size & weight = advantage. The way SCCA sets up their courses, a stock Miata with a good driver will easily beat you.

Mustang guy will bail and pretty sure if it's the mini i'm thinking of he'll be out too unless i'm driving it which he's offered. He is more likely to do it than mustang guy though.

My son has done it for years. It is just another form of Motor Meth. He has an RX7 he built, a Miata and is building up an MR2 Turbo... I guess a fix is a fix.

Few of my friends did the parking lot version of autocross. two of them also ran at tracks.
Good times, they ran a MazdaSpeed Miata, a stock Miata, a WRX, and a RX-8. It was all driver skill. Placing was always the same. 1. Local guy with a Lotus Elise 2. Speed Miata 3. RX-8 4. Miata 5. WRX One time a guy showed up with a VERY modded mustang. The car was never straight through the entire course, and I'm pretty sure the tires were always spinning. He pulled a 3rd place finish. |

im talking to some of the ppl on the local board that puts on the event and it seems to be alot of fun, the vids look like a blast with 50-60 cars showing up regularly, as long as i can afford tires, but alas such is the problems of HP sports
my main goal for the first run... not getting lost in the cones |

I ran one a long time ago in my Saleen Mustang - TON of fun!
I'd consider doing them occasionally in my 300ZXtt, once I 'freshen up' the motor/turbos. But I don't want to thrash the shit out of it too badly - and if you run hard, you WILL abuse the hell outta your car. I think doing them on a regular basis would pretty much require a dedicated toy. |
