It's a weird fascination some people have. They see something they like, but are bugged to no end that it doesn't perform like something else... so they go all Tim Allen on it until it does.
Sometimes it works, sometimes they're just fixing it until it's really broken.

My personal projects, had I the resources and mechanical know-how, would be an early 80's Jaguar XJS, or a mid-to-late 70's MGB.
I dig British cars... I hate the weak/difficult motors and Lucas electrical systems.

Spending $30k on a busted as camaro is different?

My vfr is a sport tourer. It has it's own place in the bike world, but not in the supersport section. A single man makes a supercharger kit and puts it there. I don't see anything wrong with that.

Even though the set goal is power, the outcome may not end up there. It might end up with a guy finding out that he can use 8 parts off of a different bike that saves hundreds of dollars. I wish a lot more people would join a 4x4 site just to see the creativity and knowledge on how to make something work that no one else wants to try.

In quite a few cases, it does. The majority of those kinds of posts are because someone didn't want to fork over the cash for a supersport up front but want a supersport bike. In order to get there, however, they just end up reaching around their ass to touch their elbow. Then they get all pissed because of all the money they had to put into it to make it do what they wanted in the first place. I guess I'm in the minority because I went to the SV because I knew what it was performance-wise.

Agree, disagree, whatever.

I agree to a point. It is like someone putting $20k in to a $5k Civic for 1/4 mile times. I suspect there are similarities between the two since people often start with the Civic/SV because that is what their parents would allow, what was affordable to insure, the amount they could get financed, or some other reason. None of it makes a whole lot of sense to me. Ultimately though that doesn't matter as long as it makes some sense to them.
