Yeah I have one of those for locking up my snowboard to the ski/board racks. They work pretty well. Easily snipped, but better than nothing.

ive used the cable both to tie down my gear but also the bikes themselves. If someone has a backpack and carries a bit longer cable, you can run it through the jackets, helmets and front tires...or just front tires when leaving in the truck for the night with it secured to some part of the vehicle as well...
