That why you use the blinker. The animated light catches their eye, often even if they're not looking in the mirror.

I'm surprised that most of you haven't encountered a cager that has tried to run you over.
I had one the other night jerk his pick up in front of me on a 4 lane road, came close to hitting me. I was doing the speed limit, in the left lane, minding my own business. There are two kind of cagers: 1. the ones that you are invisible to 2. the ones that think you have a target painted on you.

My personal favorite is to move left far enough that my headlight is straight in their driver's side mirror, then move back toward center. Rinse and repeat a couple of times, and they (sometimes) get the message. |

It doesn't always work, but it gets better responses than the high beams, which almost invariably trigger the aforementioned ego response.

Here it just triggers the "dumbass forgot to turn off hos blinker" response.

What I've learned...
1. People are usually too busy doing everything except driving in their boxes on wheels while on the roads. 2. When they aren't too busy doing other things, they are generally asleep or just acting as a mouth-breather. 3. If I change my body language or do any emotional display on a motorcycle it is perceived as anger or rage. People are too used to placing their own emotion onto other people they do it to me when I'm riding. 4. I'm not EVER going to be able to "teach someone a lesson" while on the public roads. Add all of these together and start driving with patience. FWIW, I hate passing on the right...

Carry at least a couple of extra spark plugs in your pocket?

Got to be in front, to be able to use them, or you end up as a Jim Croce lyric.
Hell, you can end up as a Jim Croce lyric just for messing with a car.
