I wonder if any KTM/Aprilia/Bimota/etc dealer would be considered an authorized dealer for maintenance on the 1125r

Ebbs, most dealers are between MSRP to a couple grand off. Depends on location. Heard of one dealer dropping the Buell line and they are pushing them out for 9K.
You should be able to pick one up for 11 plus ttl.

how is the DIY factor on Buells?
i hear going to the dealer for stuff is crazy.
Should be pretty good after I get my service manual. It's sitting at the dealership waiting for me to get it.

They won't have access to most of the computer stuff, since that engine is Buell only, and they won't be authorized for warranty stuff.

You are right about most HD dealers... sadly. And there is recomended valve adjustment needed on the 1125R.

However, I will say that as far as bike dealerships. HD dealers have about the best customer service.

Put it this way. So far my experience with HD/Buell dealers.
-expect to pay premium prices for EVERYTHING parts and labor
-Don't expect a call back on anything, parts ordered, question on service, recalls etc.
-Don't expect to get in same day... or next day. Hope for next week!
-Mine at least will pick up and deliver (nice since i'm 100 miles away) but I'm out the bike for 3 days at least.

I've been to 3 diffrent HD dealerships... the customer service does decline quite a bit when you mention your not getting a harley or here to talk about a harley... or ride up on a sport bike...

The last time I had the wife's bike in... was her 1k service... make an appt... drop off sunday evening, they promise it done by end of work week, to avoid lost w/e riding time. Called me Wed night... said they found the throttle cables were wrong and bike was done. I said done with the service but have cables on order? Nope... done with everything, new cables installed and everything... GREAT SERVICE!!
