It's fairly easy to run wires for them to a toggle switch under the dash or something if you don't want to mess up the existing setup inside with a switch that doesn't 'match'

Your best bet is to run them through a relay so that they only turn on when the car is running.
Also how much have you looked behind that bumper. A good amount of cars will have the wiring there anyway even if it isn't originally equipped, its cheaper to design and build one wire harness with a bunch of plugs than it is to design a bunch for each individual option available. You might have to look at a wire diagram or a car specific forum to see if they have the plug already or not. Just as an example my old ford focus came with 3 speed wipers, and to change it to the 10 speed/infinitely variable wiper, all I ad to do was change out the switch. It also came without power locks or windows and all I did was wait for someone to wreck their car and bought the necessary switches, parts and plugs from them. but all the wires were in place.

Depending on what you get as far as wattage, a lot of times you can splice directly into the parking lights or even the headlights. The downside is that you don't have control over running the fog lights independant of the other lights, but for most folks that's a non-issue. I've done this in a number of my vehicles and even used power from the parking lights with a switch bypass in the cab... really for no good reason.

On my '04 (previous gen) the foglights are turned on by pulling out the dash-mounted headlight switch. Honestly, I don't know if i've even used them this year *shrug*
If you want them on with the headlights it's easy to do, just power a relay directly from the battery (use a fuse), and tap into the headlight power to switch the relay.
