In NC they have to be in the back seat until 8 years old and 80 pounds.

My step mom was in a crash in the passenger seat of her Miata. She is short and her face was pretty torn up from the airbag.

oh yeah airbags are the main reason for it for sure but if you can turn them off I guess it's good to go in TX.
