Up here they've always been about the burgers and root beer, even back when I was a kid and they still had drive-thrus. Used to get the root beer in big 5 gallon glass jugs that looked like old hooch jugs from The Beverly Hillbillies.

And the poutine. Gotta have the poutine. Guess I know where I'm getting dinner tonight.

Back in the day, they also had whores on rollerskates.

At least I think they were whores. They kept coming up to my window, and asking for money.

If you'd ever had it, then you'd probably think so too

Poutine is a Quebec thing. If you think that the French from France have a corner on the "clog an artery" type food, then you've never seen what a Quebecois can do in the kitchen. Poutine is French fries with chunks of cheese curd melted over them by piping hot gravy. The industrial stuff like what you get at A&W up here is OK, but the best is bought from chip wagons along the side of the road; massively thick cut fries with gravy and fresh curd
