Trucks/SUVs have a lot of profit margin built in to their MSRPs. That's also why what used to be the big three built the shit out of them. With the difficulties selling them there is no reason you should be paying anywhere near MSRP when buying one.
My 2004 Nissan Frontier 4 banger, 5 speed averages well over 20mpg city and highway and I'm pretty aggressive with the throttle. |

Not until 15 years ago. Plenty of small trucks before then.
Fuck trucks, they are a ripoff, precisely because you guys keep buying them. The manufacturers know they can get good money for them. And for such low tech ---- All they are is a box on a frame, but when they add leather seats people think they're luxury vehicles all of a sudden. I mean seriously, mid-upper 30's for a F150 XLT? what a joke..... The only truck I've driven that has performance-like handling is the Tacoma X-Runner. So that's the only truck I'd ever consider buying. Unfortunately it looks a little silly with the body kit it comes with. |

I'd like to know why new jeeps cost $30k and even 10 year old ones cost over 10k...
I wanted one as a fun offroad toy, but what the fuck? These are the shitty no-door having 4cyl with "offroad" tires that were as slick as drag radials. Did I miss where they were worth their weight in gold? I mean, they don't pull over 20mpgs with lifts and tires I'd want. |

I'm debating on selling my truck and getting a new one. I currently have a 04 Silverado Z71 Crew Cab 1/2 ton with 50K miles. The truck has been paid off for 2 years now, but I love the styling / power of whats on the market. Unfortunately, the 1/2 ton I want now, with the bigger motor, 4x4, crew cab, and up in the tech department is getting close to $50k. Even the trade in or resale on my truck will take a dent out of the price, I'm still looking at roughly $30-35K. So that's my dilema.
I figured trade in might get me $15K, private trade $18 but that is pushing it.

Lifted with aftermarket offroad suspension? Or just a lift kit from the factory? If it's just the latter, I'm struggling to see how the total would reach $60K unless $15-20K of that is rimz/tires.

My buddy bought a brand new 5.0 mustang in 1991. Cost him $14,200.
Now the cheapest mustang with a v8 costs $42000
