We just packed up in case something hits the fan here. They just announced a fire North of us. Fuck.

When we drove home from my event at the track this morning past Bastrop it looked like a freakin' volcano... amazing. The pine trees out there are just going crazy with this.

Map of the fires... http://www.wunderground.com/wunderma...=0&tfk=0&ski=0

I haven't unpacked yet, and I just called a relative in Ft. Worth to see if we could stay with them with cats if we need to. Really hope it doesn't come to that.

I got this set up today so emergency notifications will go to my cell. http://wireless.capcog.org/ENS/Intro.aspx

Thanks for that.

You saw there is an evacuation notification on North Bagdad Road... that's too damn close.

I got home from out of town around 5:30pm today and the national news had a news anchor in Bastrop, Tx. Behind him was just a wall of smoke.

When I left to go to MS last week I posted on FB that I was gonna haul a hurricane back with me to TX. I have failed TX horribly.

Yeah, we had a bit of a scare last night, with a small wildfire causing evacuations up to the street next to ours (and the wind blowing it our way). At least I had a bit of a fire break next to my house, since the neighbor burned her house down about 6 weeks ago and there's nothing but an empty slab there. My windows are still boarded up after breaking from the heat of that fire.

Not fun pondering losing the house again. My thoughts go out to all the folks in Bastrop and Steiner that weren't so lucky.
