quick chain question - Page 2

Did you grind the rivet head off first? All these chain problems, somebody needs to bring a dremel.

No theres a piece you use first that pushes the rivet out the back of the chain. I think I was on an odd angle with it and it let go on me.

should grind the rivet first, then use the breaker pin to push it through.

that's why you bent the pusher pin.

I just got the motion pro chain breaker/riveter set last week. like $100 retail. it has everything in it, breaker, press and riviter.

I bought this exact same kit about 3 years ago. BEST $100 I ever spent!

Yep, I bought that kit, geez almost 10 years ago. BTW I bought a cheap breaker because the breaker part of the kit left something to be desired. A $10 breaker works better and doesn't require any grinding.

Exactly- 2 minutes of easy work saves breaking a tool.

I've got one of the motion pro chain breakers, this one.

you still want to grind the pin, makes it much easier to push the pin out without bending your pusher pin. or you have a better one. got a picture of it?
