As a former smoker, I totally agree. Many of my smoke breaks were less about me needing a smoke, and more about me being sick of dealing with bullshit and wanting a break. I know the same went for many of my smoking compadres...

This!

I had a boss that smoked and would take breaks WITH the other smokers but if a non smoker stopped working....

Thats why you take a non-smokers smoke break and roll out for a quick 5-10 min walk around the site. I know where you work, Trip, and there has to be lots of acreage you can just go walk around if you want to.

Would you like to sign my petition against lung cancer?

That was the question I was asked by someone collecting signatures to get the request for a ban against smoking in public areas onto the ballot in Austin.

She might as well have asked me if I wanted to sign a petition against killing baby kittens.

Though, people voted - it passed. I just found it a shady way to collect signatures. If it would have passed on it's own measure, why not be honest with the first question?

its all about shock value to get you to buy into that sort of stuff. kinda like the new anti smoking commercials that show pics of lungs riddled with cancer.
