This, unfortunately.

Keep his information handy to give to the police.

Tmall - the world of "living well on credit" is over. And, not everyone has good credit. Especially not those that have a difficult time negotiating a deal the RIGHT way.

Does he still live in his mom's basement?

When I was selling my ninja 250, I had a guy come over and wanted to put money down and make payments. I went with it and ask how much he could put down. Me expected half to three thirds. Nope. He wanted to put down $200, make payments, AND take the bike now. Haha. That's a negative ghost rider.

Hell. I think having my four wisdom teeth pulled should have only cost me $200, not $1200. I'm marching right over there and getting a refund right meow.

Damn...
I was just thinking about putting the ZX-11 up for sale.
This thread doesn't exactly inspire me.

Meh....that's the first one of those I've had in a couple of years...and I've done this 15-20 times per year for a while. Most of my interactions have been pretty positive, but I'm usually a little more proactive about screening; but this guy was an engineer (should have tipped me off right away) at one of the big defense contractors we have around here; you'd think he'd have a little sense, right?

Usually the no money squirrels hit you up with "I'll give you XXXX for it" (usually 1/2 of your listed price) right on their opening email...I don't answer those, just hit delete.

Anyway, don't let it discourage you from CL; it was worth a laugh or two....

A fair number of people around here have been dealing with buyers who show up to pick up the bike and tell them it's (say) $500.00 less than the agreed upon sum, or the deal is off.

I would laugh in their face and turn away. Simple, yet effective.

I'd do the same, but substitute "implied threat" for "laugh."
