You're right! First 7 or 8 batches should be a good test right?

Use a cheap coffee bean grinder for the weed. Then use the method AMJ posted.

Here's how I do it:

Take your Cannabis product, be it shake or buds, and grind it up with a food processor. How much you use depends on the quality of the product and how potent you want the butter to be. It is possible to have an extended psychedelic trip with enough potency, and that's definitely not what you want. You want to use an Indica strain for this, not a Sativa.

Take the processed product and put it in a crock pot, drop two lbs of butter in there and fill the crock pot up with water. Cook on high for one hour and low for two hours. find this to be more effective in extracting all the good stuff rather than AMJ's recommended 30 minutes.

Using cheesecloth strain the butter/water/cannabis mixture into a large container that will fit in your fridge. You may need to strain it a couple of times to get all the plant material out...you just want straight liquid.

Chill in the fridge overnight. The butter will solidify and float to the top. Put it in a container and keep it in the fridge. Use it for whatever you would normally use butter for from deserts to main courses, lollipops, etc. etc.

Have them go slowly at first. Half a cookie perhaps. It's going to take about an hour before they feel any pain relieving effects, so getting impatient and eating too much can give a bad experience...though of course it would not be possible to overdose and die on.

Good luck!

**PS** Keep in mind, it is possible to get far, far higher on edibles than by smoking cannabis, and the effects last much much longer. Even experienced tokers can eat enough to go on a 48 hour trip. For instant pain relief smoking it is still the way to go.

Ok, I'll buy the crock pot method for keeping the temp low, but what's with the water?

It helps keep the temps from getting too hot and separates out some of the undesirables from the plant material. Most importantly it helps make sure you get all that butter released from the plant material when you strain it. You really want to rinse that plant material and squeeze all the liquid out of it...otherwise you're throwing away good butter.

Its an expensive medication, you don't wanna waste it.

Hmmm, good tip.

If you need me, I'll be in the kitchen...

Why the hell didn't they teach me any of this at the "green" seminar I went to?
