Showing your ass is one thing. Showing most (hell, even all) of the back of a pair of boxers is something else. It's stupid, but all the examples I've ever seen are a far cry from indecent.

What if they weren't wearing pants at all? Is it ok to go out in public only wearing your boxers now? Think nobody would comment to you about it if you wore only boxers to work?

Once those words are uttered its time to get tasered and the more you cry about suing the worse you should get youre ass beat

Again, stupid and tasteless does not equal "indecent exposure."

I'm not faulting the airline for having dress code standards at all. Hell, they can require dinner jackets and ties for all I care. It's the whole "indecent" bit that's a real stretch for me, at least given the examples of low-hanging-pant-dumbassery that I've seen.

Disagree. The airline and authorities have to work with existing laws. Do we really need a new law passed for adults that refuse to pull up their pants when on private property surrounded by paying customers and airline employees? The underwear law, for the perpetually stupid and ghetto fabulous?

But no, they don't need a new law. The airlines can say, "Pull your damn pants up or GTFO." And if someone refuses to leave, it's trespassing. Pretty simple.

I still think it's a stupid thing for the airline to make a big deal of, though. Sure, I think the guy looks like a jackass, but it's not gonna scar me or my kid to see a pair of boxers. Anyone who busts out "indecent" for that (again, at least the examples I've seen) is waaaaay too puritanical for my tastes.

I think that what people here are talking about isn't the pants half-way down the ass, which has been fairly common, but rather the pants all the way below the ass, making the person have to shuffle or waddle in order to walk. I've been seeing it more and more, around Toronto, and it's bloody stupid, and potentially indecent.

You nailed it. I am a prude but I dont care if they sag their pants.

I do care if I am subjected to views of their butt I dont even see when my hubby is walking around the house in his underwear. If I can see your butt and crack cuz your boxers are so thin that they are see through and stuck IN YOUR BUTT, and you are wearing your shirt above it so we can see all your ass, thats indecent.

This particular guy may not have been so offensive as that, but the fact that it was bad enough for the airline to say something, and then for him to think it was okay to be belligerent and offensive to everyone around him and force them to deal with his lack of class and failure to follow the rules makes me happy that they made an example of this guy. And the fact that it was embarrassing enough that he offered an explanation and apology yesterday admitting he was wrong (grudgingly) will perhaps set a good example for others in the future.
