Conan is also a moron...or more accurately, whoever told him to sign his contract is. He is contracted to host the "Tonight Show" for 5 years. There is no specific time stated for the "Tonight Show". Thats a MAJOR oversight by his lawyers.

The Tomorrow show was killed off to bring in Letterman.

Letterman loses the Tonight Show to Leno.

Leno can't let go of Tonight, Conan suffers.

Tonight Show crashes and burns, Letterman keeps on laughing.

People try to pick sides and say one of them is more funny than the other, but honestly I think most people make their choice based on their views about age, physical appearance, and vocal characteristics

Leno didn't do very well in the ratings for the first few years either. At that time Letterman regularly beat Leno. It wasn't really until the Hugh Grant busted with a prostitute interview that Leno found his audience.
