Looking For A New GPS?
Alright, after a few false starts, I've finally gotten a new GPS that I like. A Garmin 855. It's 4.3, voice activated, mp3 player, has games (kinda cool), does audio books, lane guidance, picture viewer, has removable battery, fm transmitter... the only thing it doesn't have is blue tooth, which I decided, I didn't need since I have a headset in my ear all day anyway.
Radio Shack has them on line for $219 shipped! I've seen them slightly cheaper elsewhere but at least you can return it to RS if you don't like it. The voice activation works very, very well I must say. Quite handy. http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=3515022 |

How do you mount i to the bike? Is it decently water and vibration resistant like the zumo's?

No, it's not glove sensitive or water resistant. This is solved with plastic baggies. Glove sensitivity isn't available though.

Yea I have no doubt that the Zumo is a better bike GPS but I encourage you to check the prices... Plus, how good is the Zumo in the car? Does it even come with a car mount? Seriously though, I just wanted a decent GPS for my car that I'll use once in a while on my bike. This seemed to be a good choice. I don't think that you can beat it for the money.

Starts to rain. Put zip lock bag over Gps. Enjoy rain. Starts to rain. Grab gps. Throw Gps into passing cars open window. Follow passing car until passing car stops. If rain is gone, grab GPS from passing car open window. If rain continues, then put zip lock bag over passing car's driver. Put passing car's driver in trunk. Put GPS on passing car's windshield. Drive passing car to your destination. Enjoy rain. |
