I'm all hopped up on Kale and Apples...come at me bro! (weight loss thread)
A good friend of mine from Jiu Jitsu is the Dean of Kinesthesiology for a local University. He invited my wife and I to come get analyzed as part of a study on Jiu Jitsu's effect on the human body. I'm a pretty good candidate since the only workout I do is Jiu Jitsu. The only time I lift weights or jog is if I'm injured.
I didn't know what to expect, but man this guy had a super-lab with all kinds of cool computers and monitors and stuff. First they dunked us in a water tank and took body fat measurements. Then they tested the max force our lungs were able to produce and then we got hooked up to EKGs and a breathing mask. We run on a treadmill at 6mph while the treadmill's incline increases every minute. Basically you just run until you can't anymore, and that's how they get your VO2 max. All in all it was very cool and I was super proud. In January I started training at 5'11" 186lbs and a 34" waist and definitely out of shape. As of July 11th I'm 150lbs, 30" waist, 7% body fat with a VO2 max of 55.4 moving 3.85L/min, all very good numbers for a non pro-athlete. I mentioned in another thread about cutting weight by August 13th for some fights, and I've already reached that goal. So go team Kaneman. My wife was quick to disprove stereotypes of women getting fat after marriage by registering a meager 14% body fat with very good VO2 numbers. I posted that to say to the guys here that were looking to burn some fat off, eat your veggies!! If you dedicate yourself to eating 60% of your food from fruit and veg and get a lil exercise that fat is going to melt right off. FRUIT AND VEG FO LIFE MANG!!!!

Looks good man. I get about 90% of my carbs from green vegetables. It really fills you up and keeps the pipes flowing, if you know what I mean.

Well, to put it quite simply, it's all carbs. The alcohol, not so much. Moderation is key!
I prefer bourbon on the rocks. Makers Mark to be exact. I have also recently discovered a couple of good small batch rye whiskeys. Templeton Rye and Bulleit Rye are my rye favorites. Don't get me wrong. I love me some good beer. But, hard liquor is easier on the midsection. |

I prefer regular Bulleit, Buffalo Trace, or one of the small batch Beam lines (Knob Creek, Basil Hayden, etc). I'm also a fan of single malts.
