Oooo look! Something shiney!
BAM!
Elderly man hit, killed by SUV while picking up shiny object named By Desiree Stennett and Kevin P. Connolly, Orlando Sentinel 10:35 a.m. EDT, October 12, 2012 Troopers on Friday identified the 71-year-old Orlando pedestrian who died a day earlier after he was struck by a sport-utility vehicle while picking up something that looked like a dime on Goldenrod Road. Paul Rogus died after the front of Paul Cassidy's 2004 southbound Chevy SUV hit his head at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday on Goldenrod Road at Yucatan Drive, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Troopers think Rogus was on the sidewalk on the west side of Goldenrod Road when he stepped close to the road, leaned over and tried to pick up something in the road. The FHP said in an initial crash report that Rogus "attempted to pick something up in the road (a shiny piece of metal that resembled a dime [that] was embedded in the roadway)" when he was hit. An investigation is ongoing. |
