I can drive a car!
:nana2:
So, my biggest hurdle with the broken left leg has been that I cannot drive my car since it's a standard and I couldn't operate the clutch. Well, this morning I thought I should go down and practice the motion of operating the clutch to get my leg used to it again. I go down there, get in the car without a hiccup. I start to push in the clutch and it's uncomfortable. Then I realized that my dad drove my car last, so the seat it further back. I scooted it up and Voila! Clutch engaged! After a few pumps I decide that I am going to drive to the mail boxes and back. I kick ass! The hardest part of all of it was getting my crutch in and out of the car. I am about to drive up to Walgreens(it's less than a mile away on all back roads) and pick up a few things(like paper towels ) I am so happy I could cry. OH, and yesterday I decided that two crutches wasn't necessary anymore, and I went downtown with one crutch. It takes me a while to walk, but by golly! I am that much closer to being normal again! I love being young and healthy!!! :nana2: |

Get on with your bad self, then!! That completely kicks ass....some people sit around and mope when they take a hard knock...make it their own little cross to bear...it's refreshing to see someone like you get up, shrug it off...and GET ON WITH IT!!
Now....um...it's not too late to reconsider this entire paper towel thing, eh? :P Last edited by KSGregman; 03-25-2009 at 05:23 PM.. |

Yay. I hate trying to fumble in and out of a car with crutches. Try it with a wheelchair, its fucking impossible. You end up on the ground deliberately.

Just got back from Walgreens
I bought some paper towels and some advil. I took two advil as soon as I got home because with the three flights of stairs to the apartment and the one whole mile round trip to the store, my leg is starting to feel a little worn out. I think it's worked hard enough today, so I am going to try and chill for the rest of the evening and practice again tomorrow. I was starting to get grouchy and stir crazy this morning, so I needed this! I feel so independent! |
