Default The sky is falling

Must be a slow newsday in these parts. All the paranoia over the winter wallop (even though its not winter yet) or the noreaster of 09 is prety entertaining.

The weather guys have no idea whats going ot happen, I am hearing reports of anywhere from a dusting to 18 inches in my area, if thats all it takes to report weather sign me up I can do that

Whats also great is how everyone flocks to the stores to buy all th emilk and bread like we will be snowed in for days. We live in a suburban community thats relatively flat and has a good sanitation system so the roads are plowed in a day or so.

What is a concern, to me anyway since I will be driving to and from work in this i sall the asshole christmas shoppers that will be out and how its bad that its such a busy shopping day and the storm will interfere in that.

Miffy will still be ou tin her minivan because she needs to get the latest psp or whatever for her fucking kids.

In a day?

How bout in an hour

My street is a dead end so it rarely gets plowed within 24 hrs but we are at the top of the hill so we can at least leave.

Elmont usualy wasnt too bad I think once the side streets took 2 or 3 days to get properly plowed but you could still get in and out of the area.

We will see how the guys are in seaford, I am on one of the peninsulas thats south of merrick rd so it may be a crapshoot. The sanitation guys here suck so I am not too optimistic on them with snow removal here.

We may be getting some snow next week. Two women at work are freaking out, because if they don't show up to work Wed. they won't get paid for the holidays.

I find it all amusing, having grown up in MI. Unless the roads are closed, I'm on them. And you better get the hell out of the way.

But can you get back??

I'm on a dead end street too and its not plowed, and my house is on a hill so I have a pretty steep driveway...I can get down, I just can't get back up.

As someone who worked in news...I can tell you slow newsday or busy newsday...the second the wx man mentions snow the world comes to an end and the WINTER BLAST grx come out. It's a joke. But it's much funnier on the other side.

My after school job ( way back in '76 & '77 ) was changing tires at the local tire store.

When the weatherman mentioned that dreaded four letter word, everybody needed their snow tires on THAT NIGHT

I worked plenty of nights to 11 pm and had to homework then

Damn that global warming!!

You guys should live out in the sticks like me. This kind of a blizzard brings more people out on the roads than Black Friday, some to have fun sliding their jeep, other wanting to watch said crazies, and still others out to sack the dollar store before they run out of milk and bread. And everyone here has access to a 4x4!
