That guy needs to get into competive thumb wrestling.

I'd much rather lose a toe than my thumb too. Especially if the guy goes back to work in the factory - can't do much mechanical labor without a thumb. Pretty crazy what they can do in the OR these days.

I had heard of that being done years ago in Japan. I thought they took the second toe though because of balance issues without the large toe.

I think I'd definitely rather lose a toe than go through life w/out an opposable thumb.
