This phrase is limited to ebonics?

Educate yourself on both the evolution of language and the prevalence of dialects before you spew crap.

You don't have to like it but because you don't like it you now label anything that "sounds like it" as ebonics? Ever heard someone from the south talk? Absolutely disgusting in terms of "proper" English yet widely accepted.

Not trying to be harsh.....but you really can't honestly SAY what you would or wouldn't do for sure in a moment like that.

People grieve and cope in different ways

Slang yes....but accepted.

I've yet to see the backlash against any other dialect that I've seen against "ebonics".

Did I mention any Southern slang here? No, I mentioned "I'm bout" which is a phrase that to my knowledge was created by Blacks regardless of whether they are Northern or Southern. And Black slang is commonly referred to as ebonics, like it or not. You can tell it's not just regional dialect, because "I'm bout" is used by tons of Black entertainers and rappers on TV and radio. Like "Im bout to get up out of this piece..."

Had it been a phrase that was only used by Southern Blacks, then you're right, it wouldn't be ebonics, it would be regional slang.......... but it isn't.

Or how about "Ima do this" or "Ima do that"? Or "I gotta ax you a question" ........Same thing........ebonics. That's not regional dialect.
