Shit I hope not, stuff has worked for me several times. I used the pills not sure about the swabs.

I do have a slight sore throat brewing so I will get some on the way home tonight.

The packets of red peppers that you get with pizza, pour those in a bit of water and let them sit for a bit. Or, even Cayenne Pepper. I used to do that when I was singing, learned it from my voice coach.
