I haven't had that happen. When we pay we tip while using the debit. If they don't have it set for tip on the machine we drop the tip on the table just before we leave after everyone has paid.

It only happens with me, with any specific person, once. I generally call them on it and after that, for some unknown reason, that person generally doesn't want to go out to dinner with me again

If you put the tip on the debit/credit bill, the server has to turn that in for taxes. Leave them cash on the table and they will be much happier.

Ill ask you simply, if they had a sign that said all servers will be allowed to strike you, does that make it legal for them do it? No, it doesn't.

As for no shoes, no shirt, no service, they see entitled to serve who they wish. That's a warning on the dress code of the establishment.

However, if they tell you you're subject to an automatic gratuity and you then order, you have no recourse. You were aware as the server made a point to tell you. Fine print on a menu? Good luck making that one stick in a court of law.

And what if when you ask to split the bill, they tell you they won't do that for parties of 6 or more? I've had that happen too. I've also had them say they'll split it, but they're still adding the gratuity. If they're going to call it gratuity, then I should be able to not pay it. As stated above, gratuity is not an obligation. That said, I normally tip quite well.

If you forget to bring cash then you have to do what you have to do. I'm sure a server would rather a taxed tip rather then no tip. Plus I have to pay taxes on my income.

I don't eat out to much but I have never had a problem. The last time I was out was after my brothers grad. There was about 8 of us. I think we split it about 5 ways. I think they ask when you order if it will be separate bills. Sometimes its after but we don't have a problem.

The thing is taking my money is part of the service. I want good service the whole time I'm in the building. If they give me too much of a problem I would make that my last visit to that restaurant.

I had a guy spend at least 10 minutes on a personal call before offering to help my friend and I. Then he just argue with me the whole time. This was in a tire shop. I haven't even went near that shop since that day. That might have been 16 years ago. I have bought a lot of tires in that time. Fuck em.
