Glad to hear it!! I still remember the feeling of getting that call for a job offer, and my call was nearly 5 months ago. So wonderful. Very happy for you.

Just one question, are you getting holiday pay for christmas and new years?
You asking me or Rae?

Me... this year, no. Being deployed we're paid 24/7.
Once I get back I will be, they are paid holidays.

THank you again everyone! It is the best Christmas Present!! I just cant tell you how thrilled I am.

To answer your question Derf, not this year as I am completing my 2 weeks notice at my present job and will be starting the new job 1/4/10. After that, yes holidays are paid.

You I know about dude, remember I've been there, and got a few t-shirts. Nor do i care about your. Rae is way hotter

Chi, the reason I ask is because I'm a dick, if someone quit on me right now I would tell them to not come back because i didnt want to pay them for basiaclly 1/2 of the next 2 weeks for not working

Aw, I got ya. Well, they have the option to can me now, but since I am leaving on good terms and they need a body before I leave, they are fine with the holiday thing. I am working the designated hours through Christmas, but not New Years, by my own choice, and they arent complaining because it means they dont have to pay me for New Years.

I don't know how things work there but up here, if you've given notice and they can you immediately, they're on the hook for the period that you were willing to work or two weeks, whichever is less.

Good luck on the new job. Less stress is a great Christmas present

Nope, if you give 2 weeks notice and they tell you to leave then youre done. I gave 2 weeks notice once and the guy told me to go home right away. Took my company car too so i was stuck at the jobsite anyway

Honestly the 2 week thing depends on your contract. Typically most employers will pay you through the 2 weeks, even if they can you, depending on the circumstances, etc. IN my case, they could go ahead and tell me to leave, and not have to pay me 2 weeks since I am still in my 90 day probation.

I know, how sorry is that? Not even here 3 months. *sigh*
