Default loose throttle grip

I went to the store earlier today and on my way there I was accelerating at a brisk pace to merge with traffic on the highway. I grabbed a handful of throttle and nothing happened, the bike just fell flat on its face. Within moments I realized it was just a loose handgrip that was spinning around the plastic housing, not really a big deal, but annoying. I was able to use the throttle by squeezing it pretty hard.

Anyway I did a quick fix with a pair of zip ties on each end of the throttle grip just to hold it in place. I'm gonna buy a new set of grips, but is there any good way to keep them in place solid?
