Default See?

I guess they heard that a bunch of tight-assed Americans were coming over for the Olympics, and so they scrambled, and tried so fucking hard to sanitize the place [so as to not scare any of the white people] that they broke fucking Carnaval.

Fuck, Bummer. Even though I'm Brazilian, I never got a chance to spend Carnaval there. Fuck.

Blame china. They started the trend of sanitizing the place to the nth degree.

Apoc, when personal freedoms are lost, they're usually lost forever...barring revolution.

Maybe we can watch some documentaries about how it used to be...

You sure it was due to "tight-assed Americans"? They also banned rap and funk which tend to be pretty popular here.

It's the work of conservatives. Whether it's an attack on buildings with planes, or the coming of the Olympic games, there will always be proposed a reason why it is important to reign in the rights of people, in order to protect order, and ensure public safety (even though it never does). In case you haven't seen the rash of articles questioning whether Rio was "ready" for such an event, and the tone that the American press has taken, and the pressure they have applied, I assure you it's real. Of course, this pressure is what helps drive the conservative tone down there, and the actions being taken, because they've now something to (dis)prove.

Even if I were to accept your premise, since when are conservatives exclusive to America? I have seen a "rash of articles questioning whether Rio was ready" from America, Canada, and Europe. The fact is Rio has a murder rate comparable to Detroit's. I would wonder what Detroit was going to do to try and fix it if they were "awarded" the olympics just the same. Of course that would be after I wondered what kind of hookers and drugs Detroit had provided the IOC selection committee to convince them Detroit was a good place for the olympics.

Rio is a big dangerous city, much like NYC, before it too was sanitized. Now, 42nd street is for Disney Shows, not for Peep Shows.

Brazil also has very stringent gun control, and has adopted all of the US's stupid "Drug War" policies (under pressure from the US government) which explains the completely out of control murder rate, and lawlessness in some areas.

If citizens were armed, the lawlessness there would end quickly. Brazil has been too quick to follow the lead of the US government, and it's pressures...even when it leads to stupidity, and chaos.
