We came across this guy yesterday on a bicycle ride with the dogs. Can someone ID him please?

wish youd got the shot head on but from the head shape id say it was not a huge worry. maybe a black rat snake? kinda out of their range though

from what I can see of the shape of its head I am thinking some sort of bull or gopher snake, def not anything venemous though.

Rat snake had my vote too. You can see that he has a bite out of his side so he may have been injured. He had a fair amount of trouble navigating on the concrete so I helped him back into the grass and he took off. He had a pointy tail and a small head. When I got close to him he began twitching his tail...
