I don't care about how well they represent the true definition of "GTO". The car has its own history of being the first muscle car, regardless of the name. It could have been called the Pontiac Crap Heap and what GM did with it would be no different.

I thought the new GTO was actually a well done modern interpretation of what GTOs had been in the 60s. The fact that the 6.0 LS2 version likely had more power than any 60s GTO was icing on the cake.

The difference is they actually did put a big engine in it, not a "big" engine. A 389 cubic inch (6.3 liter) engine is pretty big for a factory motor, then and now. According to your definition an AC Cobra would be the epitome of "rice".

no, you missed the point. They sold a car that COULD NOT BE RACED with homogolation special written on the side. call it a ventura or tempest and i wouldnt give a fuck.
