More people than you would think drive drunk on a regular basis. At least around here.

Those of you disagreeing with me, did you RTFA?

Assholes who get 2 DUIs in 3 months DO NOT DESERVE 2nd chances. They deserve to go to jail (like tent city here in Phx) and rot for awhile.

Would it have prevented the Judge and his wife getting fucked up? No one knows for sure, but going to jail would have given him a much needed time out to consider his future actions. Way too many drunks get off way too easy. Once you've been on the receiving end of a drunk (and nearly dying) you'll change your tune I bet.

That is how it is in Phx. I've lost count of how many times I've called 911 to report a drunk who's swerving and lane straddling his way home on one of the local freeways.

Plus MFing one!

I agree, a slap on the wrist deserved a broken leg in return.

The reason there are so many drunks on the road is because no judges are stopping them. They pat them on their backs, and send them on their way with an inconsequetial sentence.

Really? What about all those folks who get sober exactly because they got into trouble??

I guess all those recovery programs are just a waste of time?

Around here DWI's are just like traffic tickets, spend the night in jail, go to court once or twice, pay your fine and are more or less done with it.

We have a cousin who has had 11 dwi's been in and out of jail several times, fortunatley never hurt any people just a few trees he crashed into.

That is the problem. If he had 11 DUIs, he should be in jail or dead. I really don't care which.

Here 1 DUI and you lose your licence for a year and have a hefty fine and possibly jail time. 1st offence.. ( the way it should be)

I have no love lost for drunk drivers, its irresponsible and criminal and unfortunately its never the drunk that gets hurt or killed it seems.

My friend just got his DWI case cleared up a couple weeks ago and we drank to celebrate. We also drank the Sunday night when he got out of his weekend intervention program.
