Good looking pup man, and I agree the wife looks fantastic with the red hair.
I have a friend up north that has two cane corso's now... quite a dog wait till he starts to fill out. He has done protection work with Bane(the blue male) and as you can see Bianca is still small but she will be doing schutzhund with her.

So you are leaving the ears natural? That's good they look better that way.

Wow he is huge!
I think the Cane Corso looks much meaner with the ears trimmed, however I am sure that having the ears open like that leave them easily susceptible to infection which could be a problem. When I got my JRT as a pup, he had everything trimmed and docked before he was sent to me. He ears now droop, so I assume they were pointy to being with. I still don't get the point of removing the dew claws and the tail. |

Dew claws are removed because they serve no purpose and if they were to ever catch on anything, the pain is sever. It's better to remove them as a new born. Tails were docked to prevent the tails form getting bitten or pulled on when they were herding bulls or other animals. It is done in a humane way so that they do not feel it at all. They tie a sting or place a clamp around the tail before the puppies are 3 days old. Eventually the tail falls off. Remember the puppy doesn't even have his eyes open at that point and are completely unaware of it happening. It continues to be done today because that is considered to be the breed standard and dogs are penalized heavily at dog shows for having their tails in tact. Ear cropping is now optional on many breeds. |

Makes sense, I sort of figured the opposite could be true on the ears. Thanks for the explanation. |

Old man Rider is correct. My Lab has big old floppy ears. He got infections and shit. They still have to be cleaned very frequently.
Gas...dog looks great man. He's a beast. I wish I could take my dog to work. He's just too damn crazy to take with me.

Rider got most of it down.
The ears don't have to be cropped. Its acceptable either way. The dew claws and tail HAVE to be docked and as Rider said, its done when they are real young (usually within the first 3 days, I typed this info in the begining of the thread) Ebbs... yeah no more blue eyes, its like babies. Besides blue eyes as a full grown is a breed disqualification. And I'll tell the wife that you, Dova, like the read hair, that she no longer has... And I love the puppy with full size dog pic... that is AWESOME! Marko... yeah its cool taking him to work... I don't even take a leash... have the shock collar to keep him close (he don't use it much anymore... just for off leash for the just in case). |
