And when you add EMS, it's another war. Oh yeah...I forgot to add. They all have one common ground. People who (alot of times constantly) abuse the medical system. Those are the most entertaining of stories, if not the most medically knowledgable.

Oh the fucking drama here. if this lady doesnt shut up soon shes getting 5 and 2 (remember that)
It can be a love hate relationship with other services. ER is a somewhat newer profession so theyre still trying to be established. We ar ekind of known as cowboys in the medical world. So its an us against the world sort of thing here. We do try to play nice with the other services so we can get stuff done. we do bag on other services and I am sure they bag on us too. For a PA ER is one of the better fields to go into, it pays well (just not here) and the experience we gain here carries into all fields. Tom |

I gathered that ER is one of the newer professions in the medical world, yet ER's have been around for years. Who tended to them before it became known to be a profession? And the medics appear to be the most underpaid, according to their knowledge base (or at least the several medics I've been reading) in the medical field. Edit to add: You didn't explain the difference between a PA and an ER doc.

Most medics are underpaid for what they do, esp carrying the 400 pounder down 4 flights of stairs. the difference is a lot more money for the most part LOL An Er doc will graduate from medical school and will go to a 3 or 4 year residency (we only take guys from 4 year programs) whereas a PA graduates from PA school and more or les starts working. there ar eone year residencies in surgery ER, and CT surgery but IMO its not worth it. You get paid peanut sand are a scut monkey for a year. Tom |

I'm home. It was a very long night and at no point did it slow down. My job would kick ass if my department was completely wiped clean.
And someone please remind me to stop bending over backwards for beautiful girls. It only adds more work for me. No matter how many times I tell them I'm not a fucking doctor, they keep coming back to me with questions and shit that I'm not qualified to answer.

I know I'm late to the food discussion, but there are two things I learned recently:
1. Do not look at this site while hungry. 2. Some forms of genius are criminally under-appreciated.

I don't know. We had a fuckton of CHF and COPD patients, more than a handful of sickle cell crisis types, and just an insane amount of truly sick people. I don't think I registered a single person who could have easily waited a day or two and gone to their primary care doctor. It was just a fucking horrendously packed night.
