I've known a few people that were seriously injured over a fall from a horse. Dropping from that height isn't fun.

Shouldn't you be riding it backwards?

I decided to give up riding horses after a guy at our chruch let me come ride his horse once. Nice old gelding he said, rough gait but strong fast horse. It nearly tossed me when it leaped sideways over a large ditch because it spooked from some dirt bikes going by (they were going slow and eay as they could). After I got back and told him about it he asked...did they pass you on his blind side? Me: BLIND SIDE??????

After that I decided to not ride things with a little brain. I'll take a motorcycle anyday, it only fucks up if I tell it too

Loved that Tmall.

Pretty sure I've got bruised kidneys, and a few other bruised internal organs. Still rather painful to breath deep, doc says its comparable to being in a car accident. The trauma from the fall traveled through my butt and back forward, perhaps my shoulders and neck as well since I feel kinda like I've got a bad case of whiplash.

Kel, I still plan on getting my student teaching hours, Im actually hoping I can make arrangements for the riding part. When someone fails, they get 6 weeks to video themselves doing the pattern, and they can send it in. If they'll let me do the same, I think I can still make this work.

Sadly, this was one of the best lessons yet, I'd finally figured out how to "collect" the horse and was doing super well with it, one of those "it clicks" kinda things. I'd be interested to hear about your experiences sometime, I had no idea you rode horses as well!

Yeah, been riding horses since I was 3, i grew up on them.

Ran barrels in the rodeo until I turned 16, I also trained and broke yearlings (trained to be rodeo horses).
I got competitive into jumping,up until I got married.

Once you get "it", and it all clicks into place, its an amazing feeling........

Heal up....get some rest and let me know if you have any questions....I know how much it sucks to be sidelined.

Yep, I've done that. It sucks. Some ligaments connect to little tabs of bone, and can yank that little tab right off the main bone.

Damn that's cool as hell, never knew that. I grew up on a horse too, nothing fancy, just a horse we used to herd cattle. Haven't ridden in at least 15 years though.

Chi, super sorry to hear about the ankle and pending certification....kinda sucks they can't or won't work with you on it.

I've always wanted to ride a horse. Hell my dad has had one for a couple years now and I still haven't saddled up. You wouldnt think it would hurt that bad falling that far, but I've seen some people fall from a horse and ya it looks painful. I need to stop being such a little girl and saddle up. The bad is she's really not a riding horse so I know there's a good chance I'll be bucked off.
