Thanks for the kind comments. I don't have much info. They live near Wichita and I don't see them very often at all. This happened a little over a week ago, but it took awhile to get pics.
Debbie's husband was retired military, so the military took care of flying her back to Wichita. The old guy's fucking insurance company tried to give her a flat amount for her husband's death and a flat amount for her medical bills. They were going to make her pay for her own flight back, which was going to be between 5 and 10 grand because it was a medical flight. She was obviously smart enough to get a lawyer and tell the insurance company to eat a dick. It will probably be awhile before she gets anything, but no amount of money can make up for the loss of your spouse or your leg. They had to amputate her leg because she had no calf muscle left and the lower leg was shattered. You can see the wheel from the truck jammed up in that mess of a motorcycle. I'll post up more info when I get it. Last edited by Captain Morgan; 07-16-2008 at 04:31 AM.. |

Wow !! Hate to hear stories like this that damper the fun and enjoyment of motorcycle riding. Thoughts are definitely with your cousin and family...that really sucks.
I was in a pretty bad accident a few years back and I remember them telling me they were going to amputate my left leg just below the knee...talk about getting hit with a ton of bricks !! Luckily for me they decided to attempt to save it with several surgeries/skin graphs etc.... and did...even though I still have issues with the leg...ankle and foot. On a positive note though...stories like this make me realize how lucky I was regardless...mainly because I was riding solo...my wife (then GF) was at work and was supposed to be with me but wasn't. I didn't lose a loved one in the process like you cousin...man I hate to think what she's going to have to go through. |

Capt... does she need anything. I know a few people in Witchita... one person who is very well known in the area. Could have some bikers get her some flowers, or whatever. Let me know... I will call in a few favors. They are bikers so they understand.

Jesus. Elderly, teenagers, drunks... So many people out there dont appreciate their privilege to drive.
Hope she has a speedy recovery, and you and yours can get through this okay. |

Holy old thread batman. First time I've seen it though.
Those pictures make my heart drop. I can't even imagine. I hope your family has made some amount of peace with everything that happened.
